Integrate Alternative Git Providers to Ensure Access for New CodeSmash Users
Recent changes in AWS CodeCommit's onboarding process have made it impossible for new AWS users to create CodeCommit repositories. This directly hinders new CodeSmash users from fully engaging with the platform, as seamless repository creation is crucial for project initiation and collaboration.
To ensure continued accessibility and a smooth user experience, integrating alternative Git providers like GitHub or GitLab as repository options within CodeSmash is essential.

On the accounts page, you will soon be able to choose between AWS and GitHub tabs.
This is where you will be able to add AWS and GitHub accounts.

Thanks for alerting me to this one. I’ve already decided on GitHub. Besides it was on my original roadmap, so was planning to add it anyway. It supports unlimited public and private repositories on its free plan, so essentially, its exactly like CodeCommit for my use case.

Okay folks, I’ve officially started working on this.Guys, we're good, I was just able to create my first private GitHub repo with an API call! We will soon be able to save all app code in GitHub instead of AWS!

I was able to connect GitHub with AWS.
Any change in GitHub repo triggers a build pipeline for your apps in AWS.
I think this won't take too long to finalize, doesn't seem too complicated

Quick update!
I was able to create a pipeline which automatically detects changes from GitHub repo, but this time with AWS SDK.
This is what I use in CodeSmash to actually create the CI/CD setup on each user's AWS account.
Next step - connecting everything in existing CodeSmash codebase

Guys, I was just able to import a CodeSmash repo into a new GitHub repo. this is the main step when you're deploying apps with CodeSmash. So, there are only 2 things left to do:
connect the created repo to CI/CD build system
finalize and connect everything to the UI
So yeah, we are almost there!

Another quick update:
there's a new screen to add GitHub account
you will be able to add credentials using the personal access token
easy to jump to GitHub settings page from CodeSmash
there is a Cost breakdown by service for each AWS account you have
